Race Update – Thursday, June 10th
We are excited to present a spectacular event for you starting tomorrow at 12PM with the opening of the Renaissance Race Expo. You will be met by our Patty Peck FIT Crew who are ready to assist you with your packet pick up between the hours of 12 and 7PM.
The Expo will be held at Renaissance at Colony Park at 1000 Highland Colony Parkway. We are located above BellaChes and Material Girls. Click Here to view a site map of Renaissance.
Here are a few things to keep in mind before the race:

The Half Marathon begins PROMPTLY at 6AM and the 5K at 6:15AM. You must be prepared to start with your race. PLEASE arrive no later than 5:30AM to the race site. Over 1,500 racers will be vying for parking space and you must allow for traffic and parking.
Bring a lawn chair! We will provide refreshments and live entertainment. Come ready to listen to the Tom Edwards Band as they cover some of your favorite music.
Stinky Feet Athletics will provide a Kid’s Zone with inflatable games for children to be entertained. We welcome this specialty running store to the community! They will be present at the Race Expo
Fleet Feet of Jackson will provide Trigger Point Therapy demonstrations, last-minute race-day nutrition advice and samples, and $5 dollar technical Fleet Feet shirts that if you wear during the race and your picture is taken, you are eligible to win a Fleet Feet racing Kit.
Expo Vendors will include St. Domincs Health Systems, Patty Peck Honda, Skin Sake Athletic Ointment, Bondi Band, Action Chiropractic, Fleet Feet Sports of Jackson, Stinky Feet Athletcs, Sports ‘n More, Mississippi Track Club, Advocare, Runner’s Fuel, The Club, Dane Rauschenberg, Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Mississippi, Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency and Ridgeland Tourism.
Licensed Dietitian and Director of Runner’s Fuel, Rebecca Farmer, will speak at the Expo at 1PM and 3PM on racing fuel and hydration. Rebecca specializes in custom meal plans for racers wanting to optimize their racing fuel or lose weight. Look for her at the Expo!
Dane Rauschenberg will speak at 2PM and 5PM at the Expo. Dane is an exceptional runner who has run 52 marathons in 52 weeks and just recently finished a 200+ mile race relay as a team of ONE. Look for Dane at the Expo!
Must Be Present to Win – Remember, we are giving away $1,000 to 5 Lucky Racers at the close of the race. You must be present to win the $$!
HYDRATE & HEALTH - Please be prepared for the extreme temperatures by hydrating leading up to the race. There will be 10 hydration stations along the course providing water and Powerade. There will also be 5 medical stations along the course and medical spotters in white shirts with RED crosses and St. Dominic Hospital at each water station.
DO NOT hesitate to seek medical assistance if you are experiencing any difficulty and there is no shame in slowing down your pace to stay safe!
There are many races you could have chosen to run and we are grateful that you have chosen to Run Renaissance. We will be at the finish line ready to hand you a medal, a cold bottle of water and Powerade Zero, feed you bananas, granola bars, pizza, subway sandwhiches, and more!

Race Update – Monday, June 7
The race is fast approaching and we are excited to provide you a great race experience! Over 1,500 racers will be arriving for the event and volunteers are ready to assist you along the course.
The weather for the race is forecasted to be in the low 70’s for the start and mid 80’s by the close of the race. PLEASE hydrate all week and prepare yourself for the heat and humidity. There will be 10 hydration stations along the course providing water and Powerade PLUS medical/aid stations at miles 3, 7, 9, 11.5 and start/finish.
There are still some race openings for the 5K and half marathon so let your friends know they can go to www.racethehalf.com and register online.

Race Update – June 3, 2010
The race details are coming along nicely for the Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon & 5K. We will be sending out daily updates and also posting them to the website at www.racethehalf.com.
Here are a few items to consider:
RACE OPENINGS – There are still openings in both races. Please spread the word and let your running friends know there are a few more spaces open. They can go to www.racethehalf.com to register for the race!
MAKE A DIFFERENCE – We are raising funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Mississippi and your donation can make the difference in the life of a child struggling with a life threatening/altering medical condition. 11 Days Before Renaissance!

The 3rd Annual Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon & 5K is shaping up to be another great race! We anticipate close to 1,300 racers in the half marathon and 500 in the 5K. There are still registration openings, so please spread the word for those last minute registrations.
Here are some main points to prepare:
1. Race Expo will be held on Friday, June 11th from 12PM until 7PM at the Renaissance at Colony Park. The expo will be held upstairs above Material Girls – there will be signs directing you to the expo. We will have venders present. There are NO RACE DAY PACKET PICKUPS OR REGISTRATIONS.
You will receive a swag bag, T-shirt, race bib with D-tag affixed at the Expo. If you are unable to be present at the Expo, you may have someone pick up your packet with your confirmation email and copy of photo ID.
2. Race Day – The half marathon begins at 6AM and the 5K will start at 6:15AM. Please arrive at the Renaissance by no later than 5:15AM – traffic into the shopping center will be brisk and an early arrival will allow for proper race preparation.
- There will be 10 hydration stations along the 13.1 mile course and 2 for the 5K. Medical stations will be located at miles 3, 7, 9, 10.5 and start/finish.
- There is a 4-hour time limit for the half marathon. If you are unable to finish in the alotted time, you may be asked to exit the course.
- Stinky Feet Athletics will provide a Kid’s Zone with inflatable games for young children to be entertained. An adult must be present and children cannot be dropped off in this area.
- Five racers will win $1,000 at the close of the race. A random drawing will be held and names will be called. You MUST be present to win the $1,000.
- Live music will be provided at the race finish by the Tom Edwards Band – bring a folding chair and prepare to sit and enjoy the music. Refreshments and refueling food will be available for racers.

3. Heat and Safety – It is very possible for the race temperatures to peak in the 80’s or 90’s. Please prepare for the race by hydrating well in advance of the race and prepare this week and the next by acclimating to the heat.
During the race, we will have hydration stations spaced throughout the race and medical personell along the course.
