Here are answers to the most commonly asked questions about the 2010 Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon & 5K presented by Marathon Makeover.

REGISTRATION

  • How can I register? Online registration is available HERE.
  • What are the entry fees? Half Marathon – $75, the 5K – $30, The race is capped at 2,000 entrants half and 800 entrants 5K.  Once that number of registrants is reached, the 2010 race will be sold out.
  • Do you send out confirmation cards? Those who have provided an email address will receive confirmation via email in early May.
  • What is my bib #? Bib #’s will be assigned and sent out to the participants in early June.
  • Do you give refunds if I can’t make the race? Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Is there an age requirement for the 5K or Half Marathon? No
  • Is there group registration? We do not offer group registration
  • Can I run the  Half Marathon without registering? No, all runners without Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon & 5K presented by Marathon Makeover bibs will be directed off the course immediately.

RACE

  • What is the date of the marathon? Saturday, June 12
  • What time does the race start? Half Marathon  – 6:00am; 5K – 6:15am
  • Where does the race start and finish? The race starts and finishes at Renaissance at Colony Park in front of PF Chang and Biaggi’s.
  • What’s the best way to get to the start? Either take the Ridgeland/Old Agenct Rd. exit or take the Madison exit and come south 4 miles on Highland Colony Parkway.
  • Do you allow iPods/mp3 players? Yes.
  • Do all participants receive finisher medals? All finishers in the Half Marathon and 5K will receive medals.
  • Will you be mailing out finisher certificates? Your Half Marathon finish time will be posted on our website after the race and you will receive an email message the evening after the race with your results.  Official results and an Electronic Finisher Certificate will be emailed to all finishers 30 days after the race.
  • Is the Marathon course a certified course? The course has been certified by USA Track & Field – USATF – MS09005MS.
  • Are walkers permitted? Yes, walkers and race walkers are part of the Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon & 5K. However, walkers are asked to start near the end of the pack to avoid being crowded or bumped by the faster participants. It is suggested that walkers and slower participants consider using a fanny pack that accommodates a water bottle.
  • Is there a time limit to complete the Half Marathon? Yes, streets re-open to traffic at an approximately 18-minute per mile pace. At that time, participants still on the course will be required to move into the curb lane or on to the sidewalk and obey all traffic signals.  The finish line will remain open to an 4 hour time limit
  • How will by time be recorded? The Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon & 5K presented by Marathon Makeover will be using the Champion Chip timing system.  Your timing chip will be given to you at the Race Expo.
  • Are wheelchair participants permitted? No, there is not a separate wheelchair division.
  • Are skates, skateboards, bikes or carriages of any kind allowed on the Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon & 5K course? No, if you are caught on the race course with any of these, you will be directed off the course immediately.

COURSE SUPPORT

  • How many water stations will have sports drink? 8 stations out of ten. The 1st and 3rd station will only have water.
  • When will the finish line close and stop timing? 4 hours after the race start.
  • Will there be food provided along the course? There will be water at 10 locations along the course (approximately at each 1.5 miles) and a sports drink at 8 stations.
  • How many clocks on the course? 3 – 5K, 10K, 15K
  • What are the parking options? Parking for the race is available at Renaissance at Colony Park and at Cellular South.

PACKET PICK UP

  • Do you have race day packet pick up? We DO NOT have race day packet pick up for the Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon & 5K presented by Marathon Makeover.
  • Where/when do I pick up my packet? Race packets (race bib, timing chip, participant shirt, swag bag) must be picked up at the Expo on Friday, June 11th from 12pm-7pm. There will be NO RACE DAY PACKET PICK UP for the Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon & 5K presented by Marathon Makeover.

OTHER

  • Will there be a lead bikes this year? Yes, we will have lead bikes for both races.
  • Who are the Title and Presenting sponsors of the half marathon? Renaissance at Colony Park is the title sponsor.  Marathon Makeover is the presenting sponsor.
  • Who is the Official Radio Partner? Clear Channel is the Official Radio Partner.
  • How can I purchase photos from previous years half marathon? Photos were taken by Sports in Motion and can be found on their website, http://www.simphotos.com/events.html.
  • How do I volunteer for the Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon & 5K?
